Supporting WWF ocean rescue initiatives
2020 has been an unusual year. The global pandemic really forced us to stop and reflect. One thing we have realised this year is how much we are connected with each other, and how much we are dependent on Mother Nature to protect and provide.
Protect the ocean to protect our future
Our oceans are reaching crisis point, with climate change, plastic pollution and growing demand for resources, putting pressure on our oceans and marine wildlife like never before.
We need to act. This is not just about oceans and the oceans wildlife, this is also about us, the survival of humanity. The pollution will eventually, if not already, cycled into the air we breath, the food we eat and the water we drink.
With the broken eco-system and excessive CO2 emission, global warming is also no longer something reported in the news or discussed by the scientists and politicians, we are living it right now. When was the last time you had a White Christmas?
Ocean and its wildlife has been providing tirelessly, from food, energy, to help absorb CO2 emission. Even though seagrass only covers 0.2% of the seafloor, it absorbs 10% of the ocean’s carbon each year, making it an incredible tool in the fight against climate change.
Proud to support WWF and Sky Ocean Rescue
Thanks to all your support this year, we are thrilled to be able to donate 1% of our profits to WWF & Sky Ocean Rescue initiatives to help protect and restore our oceans and marine lives.
They launched a WasteShark in north Devon – the UK’s first marine robot designed specifically to eat plastic waste – that can travel up to 5,000 metres and collect up to 60kg of waste at a time.
They have also planed to plant one million seagrass seeds to create an underwater meadow in Wales from 2020. This exciting work - the UK's biggest seagrass restoration project – is vital: in the UK, up to 92 per cent of our seagrass has disappeared in the last century.
This is only the beginning and we would like to be able to support more environmental charities and projects, to help continue to future proof our oceans and our Mother Nature for generations to come.
